The SMAANZ higher degree research (HDR) student conference presents a fantastic opportunity for students to hone presentation skills, receive a high level of feedback on ideas, and network with staff and students who have similar interests. The event is free for members to attend! 

Auckland University of Technology is excited to welcome you to the 31st annual SMAANZ conference, to be held in Auckland, New Zealand from December 3-5, 2025. 

The theme of the conference is “Whiria te tāngata”, a Māori saying, meaning ‘weave the people together’. The theme represents the importance of engagement and collaboration within sport management scholarly activities. Alongside a full programme of scholarly and industry presentations, you can expect many social opportunities to connect with your colleagues and experience the attractions of Auckland.
